KLAMATH FALLS, Ore – Junior outside hitter Megan Christensen came up with a match-high 16 kills, but it was not enough to get the Owls over the top, as Tech fell in four sets this morning to The Master’s College (22-25, 10-25, 25-20, 16-25). The Owls drop to 0-6 on the season, while TMC improved to 6-2 with the win.

Oregon Tech would take an early 3-0 advantage in set one to set the pace. After seven ties, the last at 15-15, a 9-4 Master’s run put the opponents up six. Tech would score three-straight to close to 24-22, but TMC gained the next winner to take the first set 25-20.

Set two saw the Owls again take an early lead trailing by two at 10-8, but never recovered from a Mustang 15-2 run to drop a 25-10 decision.

In set three the two teams battled evenly for the first eight points, but the Owls pushed ahead, thanks to a 6-1 run, to take a 14-9 lead. The Mustangs would then close the gap at 22-20. Back-to-back-to-back kills by Joey Larsen, Christine Bansen and Miranda Weitz would then seal the third set victory for the Owls 25-20.

Going into set four the Owls felt they had the momentum, but it was all Mustangs from the start. Tech trailed by 10 points at 15-5 but could not put a run together, as both teams traded points to the end. Tech would eventually fall in the final set 25-16.

Christensen added seven digs to go with her match-high 16 kills. Weitz ended the match with seven kills, followed by Bansen with six kills and 12 digs. Larsen led the Tech defense with a team-high 20 digs. Setter Sarah Svedin tallied 17 assists and 14 digs, while Sarah Polette finished with 13 assists and 11 digs.

Oregon Tech concludes the Point Loma Invitational today at 3:00pm with their final match versus San Diego Christian.
