GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The College of Idaho women's soccer team jumped out to three goal lead and cruised to a 5-2 victory over the University of Great Falls this afternoon at the Seibel Soccer Complex here.
The Lady Yotes (2-0) open the season with two consecutive wins for the second-straight year - the only two times in the 21-year history of the program.
It didn't take long for The C of I to get on the board, as sophomore Taylor Culver found the net in the sixth minute, with Mandy Greif scoring off a Jessica Ayala feed in the 28th minute to push the lead to 2-0.
Jamie Reichel added a goal early in the second half to make it 3-0, before the Lady Argos (0-1) struck for back-to-back goals off breakdowns in the Coyote box - the second coming in the 77th minute, to close the gap to 3-2.
However, Jessica Ayala scored a pair of goals in the final 11 minutes, including one off a Lauren Winterholler touch, to complete the scoring.
The Yotes had a 23-14 edge in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
After an off day tomorrow, the Yotes close out their trip with a Tuesday match at Carroll College.
