PARKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest University women appeared to dominate every aspect of the game tonight except the final score as Pacific Lutheran shut out the Eagles 1-0, in non-conference play on a lone, first half goal.

Northwest U. outshot PLU 21-8, 12-5 in the second half but couldn’t quite finish with a goal in 8 shots on goal. NU also had 4 corner kicks to PLU’s 0, but again, would come up scoreless.

PLU seized and first half opportunity and put one into the goal net from 18 yards out at the 42:04 mark on a Karli Hurlbut goal off and assist by teammate Mimi Granlund. The Lutes’ goalies, Lauren Chambard and Ivory Harvey earned the shutout with 8 combined saves, 6 by Chambard and 2 by Harvey.

Northwest U.’s goalkeeper Jordan Holmes (0-1) gave up the lone goal in 90 minutes of play and made two saves on the night.

“I felt we really dominated play tonight but just couldn’t quite execute and finish when we had our opportunities,” stated Eagle Head Coach Erin Redwine. “We give credit to PLU for making good their opportunity and I was pleased with our depth as the players coming off the bench played beautifully and gave a great effort. If we continue to play as a team, good things will happen for this group,” Redwine concluded.

NU will host Central Washington Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. and then the Eagles travel to Walla Walla on Friday, September 4 for a 5:00 p.m. game with Whitman College.
