#10 Simon Fraser Shuts Out Northwest U
KIRKLAND, Wash. - #10 Simon Fraser University defeated Northwest University, 2-0, on an 80 degree and sunny afternoon on the NU Athletic Field.
SFU took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a Marti Dumas’ goal and assist by Alanna Foster. The lead would hold throughout the half as the Clan out shot Northwest 9-1. Chanelle Bradshaw would give SFU a 2-0 lead at the 60:04 mark in the second half on a through ball and assist by teammate Natalie Fabbro. Bradshaw’s kick came from 20 yards out from the right side.
SFU (4-1-1) outshot NU (0-3-1) 18-2 and Northwest U. goalkeeper, Jessica Kane, would finish the contest with 6 saves on the day. SFU goalkeeper Cassie Newbrook had to leave the game at the 72 minutes mark as she was injured in a collision with an Eagle player. Leslie McDonnell would come in and finish the game and maintain the shutout for SFU in goal.
Northwest U. will remain at home and host George Fox University Saturday at 2 p.m. as Simon Fraser travels to Ellensburg to take on Central Washington.
