Cavaliers Sweep Top Five En Route to Warner Pacific Invite Title
PORTLAND, Ore.— Placing the top five golfers on top of the leaderboard, Concordia University fired a 39-over 615 to easily claim the
Warner Pacific Invitational held at Heron Lakes Golf Course in the season opening tournament of the Cascade Collegiate Conference season on Monday.
Lindsay Aho (74-75—149), the defending CCC Player of the Year, topped the field with a 5-over 149. Teammate Madeline Jarrett (74-78—152) was tied with Aho through the first 18 holes before settling for second place with a 152.
Sara Taylor (76-79—155) placed third overall while Kim Lindow (82-80—162) and Holly Speer (85-77—162) tied for fifth place.
Northwest Christian’s Ashley King (84-79—163) went from seventh place to sixth with a 7-over 79 in the final round of play. C of I golfers finished in the seventh through 10th positions with Cecilia Garcia (79-89—168) leading the way; one stroke ahead of teammate Breanna Pace-Smith (83-86—169). Heidi Murphy (86-88—174) finished as C of I’s No. 3 scorer with fellow Yote Jocie Cracroft (91-92—183) tying with Warner Pacific’s top scorer, Rachel Murphy (99-84—183) in 10th place.
In 12th place, Hailey Thomas (88-98—186) was the top finisher for Corban and Jordie Howell (96-97—193), finishing in 14th place, led the Northwest Christian squad.
Concordia will host the next CCC event, also to be played at Heron Lakes, on Oct. 5.
