BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – A heartbreaking first set loss for Warner Pacific was turned into a three game sweep by Eastern Oregon as the Knights fell to the Mountaineers 25-27, 16-25, 13-25.

Set one seemed to belong to the Eastern Oregon as the visitors forged a 19-14 lead. The Knights methodically climbed back in the game, and kills from Megan Marineau and Samantha Kolakowski tied the frame at 24. After an EOU hitting error, WPC found themselves serving for match point. Unfortunately the serve went into the net, and two more Knight errors handed the set to the Mountaineers 26-24.

In set 2, the Knights battled EOU even to 8-8. From there the Mounties took control, winning 10 of the next 12 points to push ahead. Three EOU errors allowed the Knights to close within 15-22, but WPC could only manage a block from Marineau and Kolakowski down the stretch and Eastern Oregon prevailed 25-16.

A slow start marred the beginning of set three for the Knights as they fell behind 5-1 early and never found their rhythm offensively. Eastern took advantage and finished the match with a 25-13 victory.

Leah Gradwohl put away 9 kills to lead Warner Pacific. Megan Marineau had a season high 5 block assists, and the Knights as a team put up a season high 9 total blocks.

EOU was led by Grace DeBoodt’s 13 kills and 11 digs.

Warner Pacific drops to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in CCC play. Eastern improves to 6-5 overall and 4-2.
