OLYMPIA, Wash.—In a pursuit with NCAA Division II St. Martin’s and perennial NAIA power the University of Victoria, the Concordia women’s golf team placed second at the St. Martin’s Invitational held at the Links at Hawks Prairie on Tuesday.

The host Saints (316-319—635) finished in first with a one-stroke advantage over CU (317-319—636). Just one stroke back of the Cavaliers, Victoria (325-312—637) placed third to create a two-stroke gap between the top three teams. Well back of the trio, Puget Sound (354-369—723) placed fourth.

Concordia finished seventh overall at the 2008 NAIA Women’s Golf Championships while Victoria placed ninth in the event.

Concordia was led by senior Lindsay Aho (75-75—150) who shot back-to-back 3-over 75s to finish in second place; four strokes behind individual medalist Lauren Roberts (71-75—146) of St. Martin’s.

CU sophomores Holly Speer (80-80—160) and Sara Taylor (81-79—160) tied for fifth place while Madeline Jarrett (81-85—166), another sophomore, finished as the Cavaliers’ final scorer after tying for 11th place.

Concordia returns to action on Sept. 28-29 when it travels to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Grand Canyon Invite.
