Beacons Defeat Warner Pacific
PORTLAND, Ore. – In a duel of stingy defensive play, Northwest Christian defeated Warner Pacific 1-0 in the opening CCC match for both teams.
In an evenly played contest, defense ruled the day. Each team mustered just 7 shots and 2 corner kicks for the game. 6 of the Knights’ attempts were on goal, but NCU keeper Calie McVicker turned away all of them.
The visiting Beacons scored the lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute. Sarah Stalling found open space in the penalty area and fired a shot. The try was saved nicely by WPC keeper Lacy Golden, but the rebound went straight back to Stallings’ feet who converted on her second attempt.
The Knights fall to 0-6-2 overall and 0-1 in CCC play. Northwest Christian moves ahead 2-7-0 and 1-0.
