Lauren Winterholler had a pair of assists in Lady Yotes win
CALDWELL, Idaho - A pair of goals less than ten minutes into the match jump-started The College of Idaho women's soccer team, as the Lady Yotes registered a resounding 5-0 victory over The Evergreen State College in the Cascade Conference opener for both teams at Simplot Stadium.
With the win, the Lady Yotes (6-1, 1-0 CCC) secured their best start in the 21-year history of the program and picked up a victory in their debut on their new home pitch.
Erika Mouritsen got the ball rolling just five minutes into the match, knocking home a Lauren Winterholler corner kick to make it 1-0. Just three minutes later, Taylor Culver drove a ball past Geoducks (1-2-4, 0-1) keeper Sonya Daisley-Harrison for a two-goal lead.
The Coyotes would put the game away in the second half, as Jessica Ayala converted off a Macy Egerman pass in the 53rd minute to make it a three-goal cushion. The C of I would add two goals in the 86th minute - one by Colleen Smith, another by Jordan Huttash, to complete the scoring.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Lady Yotes complete their weekend set with a 2 p.m. start time against Northwest.
