BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore.—Five different players sent a ball into the back of the net as Concordia routed Northwest Christian 7-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday.

With the win, Concordia improved to 9-1-0 on the year and 2-0-0 in the CCC while NCU dropped to 2-8-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league play.

“One of the things we talked to beginning of season didn’t want to be one dimensional.” CU head coach Grant Landy said. “This is a good forecast for things down the road if we can get a lot of different people to be dangerous throughout a game.”

Concordia sophomore Jackie Hendrickson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored her second goal of the season in the 3rd minute of action to get the Cavaliers on the board early. After receiving the ball from teammate Kelton McFadden (Boise, Idaho), Hendrickson unleashed a low drive into the far post from 10 yards to put in what would eventually turn into the game-winning score.

Concordia would generate two more scores in the first period, the first of which by Jessica Ramback (Mill Creek, Wash.) in the 11th minute and the latter via an Alex Thomas (Wilsonville, Ore.) score off a corner kick in the 29th minute, to give the Cavs a 3-0 lead.

Ramback and Thomas would return in the following period to post second goals while Shelby Bloodworth (Vancouver, Wash.) and Indigo Recker (Portland, Ore.) also added to the spree as CU created a 28-to-2 shot advantage in the match.

“We had everyone connecting very well today from back to front which turned in some really nice assists and goals,” Landy said.

Georgie Christensen (Hillsboro, Ore.) picked up the win while patrolling the goal in the first half for the Cavs, while Tori Talbutt (Boise, Idaho) close out the game for the Cavs as the keeper for the final 45 minutes of play. Calie McVicker (Eugene, Ore.) tallied 13 saves for the Beacons.

Concordia returns to action on Oct. 2 when it travels to play Northwest University in Kirkland, Wash. NW Christian will host Corban College on Oct. 3.
