PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban College scored 2 goals in a span of 9 minutes midway through the second half to defeat Warner Pacific 2-0 at Portland Christian HS tonight.

First period action was played mainly between the 18’s, as Corban managed only 5 shots and the Knights just 3. The best opportunity for WPC was a Riley Murray breakaway shot that was saved by Corban netminder Jennifer Bassett who came off her line aggressively.

The advantage belonged to the visiting Warriors in the second half, as Corban began to generate chances in their offensive zone. Corban broke through at 62:47 by way of a corner kick that was finished by Jessica Matthews.

At the 71:23 mark, the Warriors’ Erin Laughlin found space down the right side and crossed a pass to a waiting Amanda Mendenhall who scored from 12 yards.

Lacey Golden made 5 saves for Warner Pacific in the loss. Bassett had 2 saves for Corban in preserving the shutout.

The Knights drop to 0-7-2 overall and 0-2 in CCC play. Corban improves to 4-5-2 and 1-1-0.
