FINAL RESULTS

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Sophomore Joey Duwe (Kingston, Wash.) carded a season and career-low 2-under 70 in helping lead Corban's men's golf team to a season-best second place finish at the Linfield Invitational Sunday at Michelbrook Country Club.

The second-year Warrior came within one shot of tying the program record for lowest score in a single round, as he moved from a five-way tie for fifth after Round #1 to all alone in fourth place thanks to a two-day total of 3-over 147 (77-70).

So far this season, Duwe has posted three straight Top 5 finishes that includes a tie for 2nd at the season-opening Warner Pacific Invitational and his first collegiate victory last weekend at the Beacon Classic.

As a team, Corban posted its second straight 22-over 310 for a 36-hole total of 44-over 620 and finished seven shots ahead of NCAA Division III member Pacific Lutheran (313-314=627). Rounding out the team competitors were the University of Oregon's club team (323-335=658) and fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Concordia (349-315=664). Lewis & Clark brought three individual players, but could not post a full-team, four-player total.

Invitational-host Linfield won the two-day event after shooting a combined 6-over 582 (290-292), as the Wildcats were led by individual champion Tyler Nelson. Nelson out distanced himself from the field thanks to a two-day total of 6-under 138 (66-72) and won the tournament by six shots.

Team-wise, Corban was helped by junior Steve Landis' (Gladstone, Ore.) 12-over 156 (77-79) that was good enough for a ninth place finish. Meanwhile, sophomore Chris Dudley (Boise, Idaho) finished in a tie for 18th after posting an 18-over 162 (79-83). Freshman Tyler Morgan (Salem, Ore.), who shot a career-low 5-over 77 in Round #1, ended the two-day event in a tie in 18th place along with Dudley after shooting a 36-hole total of 18-over 162 (77-85). Sophomore Michael May (Salem, Ore.) rebounded from a tough opening round score of 14-over 86 with a closing 18-hole total of 6-over 78 to finish tied for 22nd with a two-day total of 20-over 164. Senior Tyler Dean (Klamath Falls, Ore.) only played on Sunday and shot a 24-over 96.

Corban will return to the links on Monday, October 5th, when they compete in the second and final Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament of the fall season – the Concordia Invitational – beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Heron Lakes Golf Club in Portland.
