KIRKLAND, Wash. - Warner Pacific scored early and held on to defeat the Eagles 3-1 this afternoon in the rain on the NU Athletic Field.

Alija Sacirovic of Warner Pacific (5-3, 4-1  CCC) scored the first of his two goals just 29 seconds into the match from 15 yards out. NU's Nathan Murphy tied the game ten minutes later (10:07) 3 yards out after the ball came off the top of the goal post. Warner Pac took the lead for good on Julian Esquivel's goal at the 20:19 mark and the Knights took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The second half was scoreless until the 81:38 mark when Sacirovic scored his second goal of the day from 15 yards  out on the left side. After a fairly dry first half, the skies opened up and the rain came down in the second half with the sound of thunder in the distance.

NU goalkeeper Kyle Wall made 3 saves on the day while WPC goalie, Sean Ervin saved 6 shots on goal for the Knights. Warner Pacific out shot NU 13 to 11 with Sacirovic being credited with four of the Knight's shots. James Kerr led NU with 3 shots.

It was a physical game with 35 combined fouls called on the teams and 6 yellow cards issued.

Northwest U. (2-4-2, 0-4 CCC) will be on the road this Saturday as they travel to Salem, Oregon to take on Corban College at 2:30 p.m. Warner Pacific will host the Evergreen State College in Portland on Saturday.
