NU Eagles Fall to #20 Biola
IRVINE, Calif. – After facing #3 Cal Baptist this morning, the Eagles faced their second ranked opponent of the day in #20 Biola of Southern California and was shut out, 3-0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-19), in the first day of play in the Asics Crown Plaza Tournament hosted by Concordia University of Irvine, California.
Northwest’s (2-6, 1-0) led the Eagles with 5 kills and Anu Akamine led the team with 11 defensive digs in a match that took only 58 minutes to play.
Biola (7-2) leader was Nicolette Mather who finished with 10 kills. Teammate Justine Shoneveld had a game high 33 assists for the match and Katie Stevens added 8 digs.
Northwest U. continues play tomorrow with two more games. At 11:00 a.m., the Eagles will play Westminster (Utah) and then take on Cornerstone (Mich.) in a 7:00 p.m. match to wrap up their weekend.
