The following Cascade Collegiate Conference student-athletes were recognized as conference Players of the Week in their respective sports for the period Aug. 31-Sept. 6.

Women’s Soccer

Offensive – Southern Oregon’s Denise Powell (Grants Pass, Ore.), a 5-5 sophomore forward, had two goals on SOU’s road trip to Idaho and Montana. Powell had a goal as SOU played NCAA Division II foe Northwest Nazarene to a 2-2 draw, and she had a goal in the Raiders’ 2-1 upset victory over No. 21-ranked Rocky Mountain College. Other nominees: Claire Brown, Evergreen; Jessica Ramback, Concordia; Kaila Dillon, Oregon Tech;

Defensive – Oregon Tech’s Megan Ross (Medford, Ore.), a 5-11 junior goalkeeper, posted her second and third shutouts of the season as the Owls blanked Simpson 2-0 and Pacific (Ore.) 1-0 last week. Ross, who has allowed just one goal in 405 minutes this season, had seven saves in the two matches. Other nominees: Colleen Smith, College of Idaho; Sonya Daisley-Harrison, Evergreen.

Men’s Soccer

Offensive – Oregon Tech’s Devin Torrey (Medford, Ore.), a 6-2 senior midfielder, had a pair of goals in OIT’s win over Simpson, then hit the game-winning goal with just three minutes to play in a 1-0 victory over Willamette. Other nominees: Mirza Memic, Evergreen; Facundo Dipascuale, Concordia;

Defensive – Oregon Tech’s Tommy Burden (Costa Mesa, Calif.), a 5-11 junior keeper, made three game-saving stops in a 1-0 victory over Willamette and allowed just one goal (on a penalty kick) in a 5-1 win over Simpson as the Owls went 2-0. Burden had six saves in 180 minutes. Other nominees: Claudio Lazar, Concordia; Zach Richardson, College of Idaho; Nathan Salveson, Evergreen.

Volleyball

Hitter – Eastern Oregon’s Grace Deboodt (Prineville, Ore.), a 5-10 senior middle, totaled 44 kills, registered a .351 hitting percentage, had 35 digs and three aces in helping the Mountaineers to a 3-0 week, including CCC victories over Corban and Northwest Christian. Other nominees: Megan Christensen, Oregon Tech; Leah Bergstrom, Southern Oregon; Jazzmin Garcia, Evergreen; Kristin Henning, College of Idaho; Morgan Hirzel, Corban.

Setter – Concordia’s Skyler Kamaka (Kaneohe, Hawaii), a 5-8 sophomore, posted four straight 40-assist nights, including a 55-assist outburst vs. Southern Oregon, as the Cavs went 2-2. Her tally vs. SOU fell one shy of her career best. Other nominees: Taylor Hatleberg, Northwest Christian; Karisa Calderon, Corban; Naomi Reimer, College of Idaho; Angela Spieker, Southern Oregon; Meghan De La Rosa, Evergreen; Jessica Lea, Eastern Oregon; Melita Elliot, Warner Pacific.

Libero – Southern Oregon’s Becky Johnstone (Arrowhead, Calif.), a 5-8 sophomore, had 48 digs and five service aces as the Raiders posted home victories over Warner Pacific and Concordia. Johnstone had 26 digs vs. Concordia and 22 vs. Warner Pacific. Other nominees: Mercedes LeClaire, Northwest Christian; Rebecca Franke, Corban; Whitney Owen, College of Idaho; Chatal Petkus, Evergreen; Kaitlyn Duncan, Eastern Oregon; Kim Lindow, Concordia; Joey Larsen, Oregon Tech.

Cross Country

Men – Corban’s Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.), a sophomore, edged a trio of runners over the final 60 yards to win the 5,000-meter Corban Invitational in a time of 17:43. Other nominees: Brian Rakestraw, Evergreen.
Women – Corban’s Amy Renfro (Albany, Ore.), a sophomore, won the Corban Invitational for her first collegiate victory. Running on a wet, hilly course, Renfro clocked a time of 12:35 for the 3,000-meter race.
