Warner Pacific Clamps Down on Eagles
PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific held Northwest to a 26.7 percent shooting performance in the first half in a 79-56 win over the Eagles in CCC men’s basketball action tonight.
The #6 ranked Knights (15-7, 7-1 CCC) allowed NU just 18 points in the first half on 7 of 26 shooting. The 12 point WP advantage at the break was more than enough to hold off the Eagles, who dropped to 10-8 and 5-3 in CCC play.
Despite the struggles from NU, Warner Pacific did not put the visitors away until late in the game. Northwest was in striking distance (60-47) at the 6:22 mark after a Tyson Christie three pointer, but a 7-0 run from the Knights ended the threat and the hosts cruised to the 23 point victory.
Jake Glisson led the Knight attack offensively, dropping in 25 points on a variety of inside and outside scores. Kaylone Riley was a force inside - scoring 14 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and swatting 4 shots.
Greg George was the top scorer for NU with 18 points on 9 of 11 shooting. High scoring wing Blake Solomon was held to just three points, all on free throws.
Northwest head to Concordia tomorrow night, while the Knights host Evergreen State. Tip off for both is 7:30.
