Season Best Shooting Night Lifts Knights Over NU

PORTLAND, Ore. – Warner Pacific used a season best shooting effort to ease past Northwest 81-70 in CCC women’s basketball action tonight.

The host Knights (10-7, 5-3 CCC) hit for a .481 percentage from the field, while holding the visiting Eagles (9-7, 5-3 CCC) to 40 percent. Cameryn Calhoun led the way in accuracy with a 6 makes on 8 attempts, finishing with a season high of 19 points.

Warner Pacific forged a 10 point lead at the 11:41 mark of the first half, and maintained a double digit advantage for much of the period. The Knight lead was 43-33 lead at the break thanks to Calhoun (10 points) and Kristina Schumacher (10 points).

NU cut the deficit to five points (47-42) with 5 minutes gone in the second period, but the Knights responded with a 13-2 run to pull away. WP stretched out to their largest lead (73-53) with 4:10 to play, before settling for the 11 point win.

Schumacher finished with 17 points, complimenting Calhoun’s 19. Maya Gross chipped in with 9 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.

Jessica Wilkerson led NU with 19 points, while McKenzie McKean added 18. The Eagles went to the free throw line 41 times, but made just 24.

The Knights host Evergreen State tomorrow night, while Northwest heads across Portland to face Concordia. Tip off for both games is 5:30.
