KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The No. 20 ranked College of Idaho forced the Lady Owls into 27 turnovers, including seven in the first five minutes of play to move on to an 80-60 win in Cascade Conference play tonight at Danny Miles Court.

 

Oregon Tech is now 12-11 overall and 5-6 in CCC action. C of I improves to 13-5 on the year and to a league leading 9-2 in the conference standings. The Lady Owls have now dropped eight in a row to the Yotes.

 

College of Idaho sprinted out to a 16-3 lead before the Lady Owls were able to get on track. Oregon Tech strung together five straight to cut the Owl deficit in half at 16-8. However, the Yotes put together an 8-0 run to boost the lead back up to 24-8.

 

C of I would eventually take their largest lead of the half at 21 points, 35-14, with just over three minutes remaining in the opening period. Oregon Tech chipped at the lead and would cut it to 16, but a Yote bucket at the buzzer would send the teams to intermission with the visitors hanging on to a comfortable 41-22 lead.

 

C of I would eventually bump their advantage to 22 points on two occasions in the second half, but an Owl 10-0 run put OIT within reach to trail by just 13 points, 50-37, with 14 minutes to play.

 

Nicole Gall scored three of her game-high 30 points on a bucket and free throw to get the Yotes back up to a 22 point lead and cruised from there winning by an 80-60 final.

 

Aundrea Albright filled the stat sheet for Tech, hitting for 18 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Albright added four assists two blocks and a steal in the loss. Brittany Cherry netted eight points to go with eight rebounds, and Kelsey New was good for seven points and four rebounds.

 

Nicole Gall grabbed four rebounds and four steals to go with three assists and her game-high 30 points in the win for the Yotes. Katie Strunk put in 15 points and corralled six boards.

 

Oregon Tech outrebounded the visitors by a 48-to-34 margin, but 27 turnovers to just 10 for C of I proved costly. C of I edged OIT in the shooting department with the Yotes connecting on 40.3% from the floor to 39.7% for Tech. The Yotes connected on 10-of-26 from long range to just 4-for-14 for the Owls
