CALDWELL, Idaho - Nicole Gall scored a game-high 24 points, including back-to-back three-pointers in a 15-3 second half run, as The College of Idaho defeated Concordia University, 65-53, in a battle of last season’s Cascade Conference co-champions inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The No. 18 ranked Lady Yotes (14-5, 10-2 CCC) used an 11-0 run late in the first half, fueled by a pair of Gall treys, to grab a 39-28 lead at the break. However, after a Katie Strunk bucket to open the second half pushed the lead to 13, the Lady Yotes would miss 17 consecutive shots over a ten minute stretch, as CU rattled off 15-straight points, capped by a Rachel Scarpelli three, giving the Cavaliers a 43-41 lead.

Tied at 45-45, the Coyotes took the lead for good on a Brette Rubie free throw with eight minutes to go, with Gall draining the back-to-back treys to push the margin to seven – with the Cavs (10-11, 4-7) not getting any closer than six the rest of the way.

Whitney Owen came off the bench to score ten in the win, including a perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the line. Strunk and Rubie each had eight points in the win, with Katelin Shannon logging five steals.

The Cavaliers, who held a 36-29 rebound edge, got 18 points and 13 rebounds from 6-4 post Ann Snodderly, along with 17 points from Danielle Clauson. Scarpelli had 12 points in the loss, along with ten of CU’s 36 turnovers in the contest.

The Lady Yotes will put their first-place standing in the CCC on the line tomorrow night, hosting Warner Pacific at 5:30 p.m.
