OLYMPIA, Wash. -- From the field, it was The Evergreen State College's game as the Geoduck outscored Northwest University's women's basketball team, 56-30. But where it really mattered, on the final scoreboard, the Eagles won, 66-61, on Friday night at The Greenhouse in no small part because of huge disparity in the number of free throws shot by each team.

While the visiting Eagles went to the foul line 49 times during the contest, making 36, Evergreen was awarded only 10 free throws and made five. Evergreen's leading scorer, Latrina Woods, fouled out while three Geoducks finished with four fouls and three others had three.

Jessalyn Jackson, who also grabbed seven rebounds, led Northwest (13-7, 9-3) in scoring with 15 points while Erika Hornyak and Jessica Wilkerson had 11 each despite making only one basket apiece from the field. Alyssa Welk led the Eagles, who made only 14 baskets on the night, with three assists.

Chelsey Nill paced Evergreen (8-15, 4-8) in scoring with 13 points in just 16 minutes of playing time, while Woods added 12. Cambria Smith and Angel Stewart grabbed six rebounds each for Evergreen while Alex Saab had three assists.
