NU Eagles Score Shutout Over OIT
KIRKLAND, Wash. - The Northwest University Eagles scored early and late to earn a 2-0 shut out victory over Oregon Tech this afternoon in Cascade Conference play.
NU's Luke Fischer put the Eagles on the board just 3 minutes and 25 seconds into the game when fouled in the penalty box on the left side resulting in a penalty kick for the goal.
The game remained scoreless the remainder of the half with each team missing opportunities to score. OIT put on a fury of shots in the second half but couldn't get one past NU goalkeeper Joe Galbraith who earned the shutout. Galbraith made all four of his saves in the second half as NU edged OIT in shots with a 13-12 margin. Tanner Lee had 2 saves in goal for the Owls.
The Eagles (5-4, 2-3 CCC) got the clincher with 9 minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the game when Scott Graff knocked one in 8 yards out from the left side of the goal of a double assist by Kyle Tatro and Luke Fischer.
"It was good to come out with a lot of energy today," commented Eagle Head Coach, Gary McIntosh. ”I felt the guys showed a lot of determination as they found a way to win the game. We needed the win today to get us back on track."
NU will remain home as they host Northwest Christian tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader with the Eagle women who play host to the Evergreen State College at 1 p.m. Oregon Tech travels to Olympia to play the Evergreen State College.
