Corona’s 4 Goals Lifts Tech Past Beacons 6-4

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech scored 5 first half goals then held on playing the final 55 minutes down a man to knock off Northwest Christian University 6-4 Saturday night on Trevor Derrah Field at Steen Sports Park. Oregon Tech moves to 5-5-1 and 3-3-1 in the CCC with the win. Northwest Christian slips to 5-6-0 on the season and 2-5-0 in the CCC.

Just two minutes and five seconds into the game Oregon Tech’s Antonio Jaimes scored on a Penalty Kick after a Beacon defender was whistled for hand ball inside the box.

Victor Corona would then score the first of his 4 goals on the night as he took a pass from Jaimes and chipped the ball over the keeper to make it 2-0.

Sam Holcomb then took a Corona pass and scored in the 17th minute to make it 3-0.

Corona scored again in the 24th minute as he dribbled past a defender then chipped the ball over the keeper to make it 4-0 Hustlin’ Owls.

Chris Wilgus put the Beacons on the scoreboard in the 26th minute as he followed a shot from teammate Brady Sherriff that hit the post and finished in an empty net to make it a 4-1 game.

Corona would score his third goal of the game just before half shooting from just outside the 18 scoring in the lower left of the goal to make 5-1 at the break.

Northwest Christian came out of the halftime break a different team as they out-shot Tech 19-3 in the 2nd half. Brady Sherriff took a Denton Brown pass and scored from 15 out in the 48th minute to make it 5-2.

T.J. Prentice made it a 5-3 game as he scored in the 68th minute taking a rebound and scoring in an empty net.

Corona would then stop Beacons run when he scored his fourth goal of the game in the 74th minute to put Tech up 6-3.

Chris Wilgus scored his 2nd goal of the night for NCU scoring on a header off a rebound to make it a 6-4 game.

The Beacons out shot Tech for the game 26-12 and also had a 13-9 advantage in shot on goal.

Oregon Tech will travel to Corban and Concordia next weekend October 15th and 16th.
