The Geoducks couldn't hold on against College of Idaho, despite having more shots for the entire game.
College of Idaho Downs Evergreen
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Early goals in each half by the College of Idaho proved too much for the Geoducks to overcome as they fell 3-1 to the Coyotes. The Coyotes caught Evergreen napping early when Matt Kelly got behind the Geoduck defense and slotted past starting keeper Casey Collins just a minute and a half into the match.
Evergreen went searching for the equalizer launching 7 shots on goal through the half to COI’s 2. The Geoducks went down two just after the break when a crossed ball was turned into the goal by and Evergreen defender.
The Coyotes pushed the margin to three less than 7 minutes into the half when Carlos Gomez found himself free at the back post when a Geoduck defender missed a chance to clear a COI set piece. The Geoducks drew a consolation goal when Albert Anabtawi beat his man and lifted a cross into the box where Dyson Fowler headed home neatly.
The Geoducks host Warner Pacific University Saturday at 3:00pm before hitting the road for four straight away matches.
