ASHLAND, ORE. -- The 17th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team used an impressive opening set to lay the groundwork for a 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 sweep of Concordia tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders are now 14-3 overall and 11-1 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon will host Warner Pacific tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Second-place Concordia dropped to 13-7 overall and 8-3 in conference action.

Southern Oregon jumped out to leads of 9-2 and 17-9 in the first set before closing out the set with an 8-0 run. In that first set, the Raiders hit an impressive .567 attack percentage with 18 kills and only one error. SOU also had eight of their 17 blocks in the first set.

After the first set, the Raiders held the Cavs to 13 kills and also forced 13 errrors in the last two sets.

Senior Leah Bergstrom and junior Megan Bartling powered the SOU attack.

Bergstrom finished with a match-high 18 kills, three blocks and a .556 attack percentage with just three errors. Bartling had 12 kills and only one error for a .786 attack percentage and also five blocks. Lauren Swetland also had five blocks for the Raiders.

Senior setter Lindsey Stone had 41 assists to lead all players, while Becky Johnstone had 13 digs, Sarah Holgen had 12 digs and Leanne Stennett finished with 10 digs.

Clair Thiel led the Cavs with nine kills and also had two of Concordia's four blocks. Raluca Dinca finished with a team-high nine digs.
