PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia set the tone with two goals in the first 15 minutes and broke the game open with five more in a 15-minute stretch to defeat Evergreen State 9-0 on Friday night at Delta Park.
 
With the win, top-ranked Concordia improved to 13-0-1 overall and 5-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The loss drops Evergreen State’s record to 0-7-1 and 0-4 in the CCC.
 
The Cavaliers had nine players score a goal in the contest.
 
Kaitlyn Tebbs (Bend, Ore./Bend H.S.) opened the scoring at 12:00 when she headed a ball off a cross from the left side. Less than five minutes later in a near duplicate of the previous play, Angie Turner (Salem, Ore./Cascade H.S.) knocked a header in from 10 yards out to give the home team a 2-0 advantage.
 
Evergreen held Concordia without a goal for the next 25 minutes before Tahlia O’Loughlin (Boise, Idaho/Borah H.S.) took a quick tap from Alex Blalock (Flagstaff, Ariz./Coconino H.S.) in front of the goal and knocked it in from 13 yards out in the 42nd minute.
 
Concordia came out strong in the second half, scoring five goals in the first 23 minutes of the period. Kaylynn Winwood (Nampa, Idaho/Columbia H.S.) shot from the far side in front of the goal off Robyn Neiman’s (Bend, Ore./Mountain View H.S.) corner kick in the 54th minute to give the Cavs a 4-0 lead.
 
Kelton McFadden (Boise, Idaho/Timberline H.S.) shot a 15-yard blast to the right of Evergreen goalkeeper Brienna Ewoldt in the 59th minute while Alex Thomas (Wilsonville, Ore./Wilsonville H.S.) scored on a scramble in front of the goal in the 62nd minute for a 7-0 advantage.
 
Brittany Orr (Federal Way, Wash./Todd Beamer H.S.) scored on a 35-yard shot to the top of the goal in the 64th minute, Shelby Bloodworth (Camas, Wash./Central Catholic H.S.) finished from 15 yards out off a steal in the 68th minute and Jenna Peterson (Federal Way, Wash./Decatur H.S.) finished the scoring in the 82nd minute from eight yards out.
 
Ewoldt was busy in goal all night as Concordia outshot the Geoducks 43-to-1, including 25 shots on goal. Ewoldt finished the match with 16 saves, five in the first half and 11 in the second period.
 
The Cavs finished with a 7-to-0 edge in corner kicks. Tori Talbutt (Boise, Idaho/Capital H.S.) captured one save in the first half to collect the win while Marie Burn (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium H.S.) played the second half to complete the shutout.
 
Concordia returns to action Saturday, hosting Northwest University at Delta Park in a match scheduled to start at 5 p.m. Evergreen State will visit Warner Pacific for a CCC match Saturday at 1 p.m.
