NCU Women, WPC Men are Top Teams at Warner Pacific Open
PORTLAND, Ore. – Northwest Christian ran away with the women’s title, while Warner Pacific claimed the men’s at the 10th Annual Warner Pacific Open “Day of Cross Country” at Westmoreland Park.
The NCU women swept the top three spots on their way to a low team score of 33. Brittany Arch won the individual title for the Beacons in 18:12 over the 5k course, followed by teammates Stephanie Hescock (18:22) and Megan Hall (18:27).
The University of Portland and Corban University tied for 2nd place, each team with 74 points. They were followed by Pacific (Ore.) (92 points), Oregon Tech (99 points), Evergreen State (162 points), and host Warner Pacific (175 points).
On the men’s side Warner Pacific defended their home course with a low score of 42. Karim Shakalia was the top finisher over the 8k course for the Knights in 4th place with a time of 25:36. The individual title went to Aiden Irish of the University of Portland, who clocked a time of 25:01. He was followed by his teammates Brenden Ralph (25:24), and David Garcia (25:25), but the Pilots did not run a full scoring team.
Oregon Tech came home in 2nd place as a team with 58 points, followed by Corban (76 points), Pacific (Ore.) (81 points), Northwest Christian (93 points), and Evergreen State (156 points).
