EUGENE, Ore. – Senior forward Kori Wilgus broke NCU’s single-game shot and shot-on-goal records on Wednesday afternoon and scored both Beacon goals as the Northwest Christian University women’s soccer team knocked off Trinity Lutheran College, 2-1.

Wilgus had 13 shots in the game, tying her own record, and set a new single-game standard with eight shots on goal, scoring in each half as the Beacons improve to 4-8-1 on the season.

NCU broke open a scoreless tie in the 39th minute. Junior defender Brittany McKinley sent a through ball down the middle of the field and found Wilgus, who was left one-on-one versus the Lady Eagle keeper before punching in the score.

The Beacons kept a 1-0 lead into the second half, but TLC found an equalizing score in the 55th minute. Briann Oostinga took the ball down the left sideline and penetrated the box past a trio of NCU defenders. She made a move to the right, essentially passing to herself, juking the defense and punching in the easy score.

It only took nine minutes for Wilgus to put away the game winner, taking a give-and-go pass from Karli Vath and firing a hard strike in the box and into the bottom right of the net for the score.

Ali Foster picks up the win in goal for NCU, getting one save as the Beacons out-shot Trinity, 38-6, including a 20-2 advantage in shots on goal. The junior now has four wins on the season, one shy of tying the Beacons single-season record for a keeper.

Northwest Christian will be back in action on Friday, resuming Cascade Collegiate Conference action with a 2:00 pm game against Eastern Oregon. The Beacons are 0-3 all-time against the Mounties (3-6-1, 3-3 CCC).
