ASHLAND, ORE. -- In a battle of two of the top teams in the Cascade Conference, the Southern Oregon and Northwest women's soccer teams battled to a 1-1 tie today at University Field.

Southern Oregon now sits at 10-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in Cascade Conference play. The Raiders host Evergreen State tomorrow at 3 p.m. Northwest is now 6-2-4 overall and 3-1-2 in conference play.

Southern Oregon dominated play in the first half and finally got on the board at the beginning of the second half, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Stephanie Carr in the 46th minute. Carr's goal is her eighth of the season and came off a beautiful crossing pass from senior Sara Switzer.

After that, the Eagles took over. Northwest tied the match with a goal from Kirstie Perron in the 74th minute off an assist from Stephanie Cummins.

The match remained tied through regulation and in the second half, Northwest withstood a flurry of shots in overtime for the tie.

"I'm proud of the way we recaptured the game in overtime," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "We were able to put the ball back on the ground and get some shots. That's a good team we played, they just tied top-ranked Concordia."

Carr, Denise Powell and Alyssa Bricker all had three shots for the Raiders.

Jessica Kuehlwein had seven saves, while Northwest keeper Jordan Holmes had 11 saves.
