PORTLAND, Ore. – Three Cascade Collegiate Conference teams – Concordia women’s soccer, College of Idaho volleyball and Southern Oregon volleyball – are listed in NAIA Top 25 polls, according to new rankings released Tuesday by the national office.
In women’s soccer, Concordia is No. 1 for the fifth consecutive poll and seventh time this season – this week securing all 23 first-place votes. The next eight teams, including No. 2 Lee (Tenn.) and No. 3 Azusa Pacific (Calif.), remained in the same positions as last week’s poll.
Two other CCC women’s soccer programs – Corban, which at 13-3 is off to its best 16-match start in program history, and Southern Oregon, which has tied a school record with 11 victories – are receiving votes in the poll.
In volleyball, both College of Idaho (No. 13) and Southern Oregon (No. 17) retained their rankings from the previous week, reflecting a trend in this week’s poll; in all, the top 14 teams maintained their same positions from last week’s listing.
While no men’s CCC soccer program is listed in the NAIA Top 25 poll, Concordia just missed making its 2010 Top 25 debut. The Cavaliers, who have won five straight and lead the conference with a 10-1 mark, totaled 102 points for the No. 26 position. Warner Pacific also picked up a vote in the poll.
The NAIA men’s and women’s cross country polls will be released Wednesday. The CCC is one of the NAIA’s dominant conferences in both genders, with eight teams featured in last week’s men’s and women’s rankings, including the top-ranked Southern Oregon men’s squad. College of Idaho has top 10 teams on both the women’s (No. 7) and men’s (No. 9) sides, according to last week’s rankings.
