Aaron Reynolds notched his fourth shutout of the season
CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho limited Corban University to just six shots all afternoon, as the Coyotes clinched a spot in the Cascade Conference Men’s Soccer Postseason Tournament with a 2-0 victory this afternoon at Simplot Stadium.
With the win, the Coyotes (9-7, 8-4 CCC) extended their win streak to a season-high five games, getting a goal in each half to notch the victory – as Aaron Reynolds picked up his fourth shutout of the year.
The Yotes got on the board quickly, as in the 7th minute, Brad Byers drilled a free kick from the top of the 18 into the upper left corner of the net.
The Warriors (5-10-1, 4-8) nearly tied the score in the 68th minute, as Jake Arnston ripped a one-timer from 30 yards, with Reynolds making a diving save to his right to preserve The C of I lead.
In the 75th minute, the Coyotes got some insurance, as Brian Buckingham tapped home a score after a Matt Kelly shot was blocked by Warrior keeper, James Myrvold.
The C of I held a 13-6 edge in shots, with both teams recording two corner kicks apiece.
The Yotes close out their home schedule tomorrow afternoon, hosting Concordia University at 1 p.m.
