Oregon Tech Powers Past Warner Pacific
PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Tech broke a 1-1 tie in the 62nd minute, and added an insurance goal late to defeat Warner Pacific 3-1 in Cascade Conference women’s soccer action at David Douglas High School today.
With the sun breaking through the clouds on a perfect day for soccer, OIT and WPC battled scoreless for the first 40 minutes. That’s when the Owls’ Sharon Hernandez walked in a goal off a well placed cross from Meghan Drost.
After halftime, the Knights quickly went forward and earned a penalty kick with just 30 seconds gone as OIT committed a foul in the box. Mila Miller put the try into the right corner and tied the game at 1-1.
As the second period wore on the visiting Owls began to press numbers into their offensive zone, and scored the game winner in the 62nd minute by way of a Andrea Perez header. Becky Olson added the final goal at 77:48 thanks to a second assist from Drost.
Oregon Tech improves to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in the CCC standings. WPC falls to 2-11-2 and 1-7. The Knights conclude the 2010 season by hosting Southern Oregon tomorrow at 2:00 pm at David Douglas HS.
