Frasier's Hat Trick Lifts NU Over NCU
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Northwest University head coach Erin Redwine emphasized to her team a strong start would be important in the game today and Kelsey Frasier took her words to heart as she scored a hat trick in the first three minutes and 30 seconds of the game to lead the Eagles to a 5-0 shut out win over Northwest Christian this afternoon in Cascade Conference play.
Fans were just getting comfortable in their seats when Frasier scored her first goal 1:59 into the game from 20 yards out on the right side. A minute later, it was Frasier again from the left side of the goal mouth (2:59) and 31 seconds later, she scored her hat trick with another goal from the left side of the goal.
Frasier added an assist to her day 18 minutes later as she sent her pass to Jordyn Wilson from the right side to the left as Wilson put it into the goal net. Lizzie Perkins ended the scoring, all in the first half, with her goal at 24:25 off an assist from teammate Abby Brauer.
Jordan Holmes earned the shut out for Northwest (7-3-4, 4-2-2 CCC) as NU has a 20-6 margin on shots. Northwest Christian goalkeeper Ali Foster had 7 saves on the day in goal for the Beacons (4-11-1, 1-7 CCC)
"It was our emphasis was to get off to a good start today," commented Eagle Coach Erin Redwine, "and I'm really proud of the ladies in the way they played. The goals we scored today were quality goals and all due to our hard work and efforts out on the field."
Northwest will now face Corban University tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Kirkland and Northwest Christian heads to Olympia to play the Evergreen State College.
