Northwest Falls to Carroll
HAVRE, Mont.- A hot shooting Carroll College defeated Northwest University, 82-61, in their final game in the Montana State-Northern Skylights Tournament tonight.
Carroll came out shooting a blistering 50% from 2-point range and 60% (6-10) from beyond the 3-point arc to take a 44-28 halftime lead. Northwest U. shot a respectable 43% (2pt) and 50% from 3-point range, but it wasn't enough. Carroll out scored the Eagles 38-33 in the second half, but the 16 point halftime lead proved to be the winning margin.
For Northwest U. (1-2), Emily Drivstuen scored 14 points to lead the Eagles and teammate Jessalyn Jackson scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had a game high 6 blocks. Kia Gibson added 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Alysha Green led all scorers with 22 points while Torrie Cahill scored 20 points and gathered 11 rebounds for the double-double. The Fighting Saints held a 36-27 rebounding margin. Carroll wsa 29-38 from the free throw line for .763 shooting from the charity stripe.
