Raiders Down Knights, Wrap Up Playoff Berth
PORTLAND, ORE. -- The Southern Oregon women's soccer team wrapped up a spot in the Cascade Conference postseason tournament with a 2-0 victory over Warner Pacific today in Portland.
The Raiders wrap up the regular season 12-4-2 overall and 6-2-1 in Cascade Conference play. The Raiders are the No. 3 seed and will travel to second-seeded Corban next Saturday.
Southern Oregon scored in the 23rd minute on an un-assisted goal by freshman Ashton Griffen. Southern Oregon made it 2-0 in the 41st minute as freshman Kennedy Roteman scored on a header for the 2-0 lead.
"We had moments of really good soccer," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "It's tough to come back after a match like we had against Concordia, but the girls did a good job of bouncing back and we got a pair of top level finishes by Ashton and Kennedy."
The attention now turns to the playoffs, where the Raiders make their first appearance in the last two years.
Corban scored a 1-0 overtime victory over SOU earlier in the year.
"Our objective in the program has changed," Clement said. "Now it's about not only getting in the playoffs, but winning it."
