PORTLAND, Ore. -- Ten student-athletes in the sports of volleyball, soccer, cross country and golf have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Volleyball

Hitter – Northwest Christian University’s Janel Fetters, a 6-0 freshman from Mission Viejo, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Hitter of the Week. Fetters averaged 5.4 kills per set, and tied NCU’s single-match record with 27 kills in a 3-1 loss to Concordia University. Honorable mention: Lauren Bourgeau, College of Idaho; Anu Akamine, Northwest; Sarah Holgen, Southern Oregon; Clair Thiel, Concordia; Chandra Baskoro, Corban; Sam Kolakowski, Warner Pacific; Irene Walters, Eastern Oregon.

Setter – Concordia University’s Lindsay Mangan, a 5-8 freshman from Huntington Beach, Calif., has been named the Red Lion Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week. In two victories, Mangan averaged 38.5 assists and 11.5 digs for the Cavs, who recorded victories over Northwest Christian University and Corban University. Mangan also had four service aces. Honorable mention: Cori Wallace, Northwest Christian; Madie Machurek, College of Idaho; Lauryn Ernster, Northwest; Lindsey Stone, Southern Oregon; Megan Dees, Corban; Melita Elliot, Warner Pacific; Jessica Lea, Eastern Oregon.

Libero – Eastern Oregon University’s Kaitlyn Duncan, a 5-5 sophomore from Prineville, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Libero of the Week. In two matches, Duncan averaged 23.5 digs. She had 33 digs in a 3-2 loss to Northwest. Honorable mention: Whitney Owen, College of Idaho; Becky Johnstone, Southern Oregon; Aubrie Concannon, Concordia; Bethany Durre, Corban.

Men’s Soccer

Offensive – Warner Pacific College’s Alija Sacirovic, a 5-8 junior forward from Gresham, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week. Sacirovic scored two goals, including the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over CCC-leading Concordia, and assisted on another as the Knights posted a pair of important conference victories. Honorable mention: Luke Fischer, Northwest; Matt Caniglia, Concordia; Gus Bermudez, Corban.

Defensive – Warner Pacific College’s Sean Ervin, a 5-10 senior goalkeeper from Vancouver, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week. Ervin played all 180 minutes in goal and registered a total of nine saves as the Knights posted shutout victories over Corban University (4-0) and Concordia University (1-0). Honorable mention: Claudio Lazar, Concordia; James Myrvold, Corban.

Women’s Soccer

Offensive – Concordia University’s Sami Andrews, a 5-6 senior midfielder from Camas, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week. Andrews scored three of the Cavs’ four goals as top-ranked Concordia posted 2-0 road wins over Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho. She registered her first career two-goal game in the win over the Yotes, with the scores coming within a four-minute span. Honorable mention: Lauren Robideau, Eastern Oregon; Kelly Hardegree-Ullman, College of Idaho; Kelsey Frasier, Northwest; Alexis Mahoney, Southern Oregon; Brooke Cole, Oregon Tech; Emily Tsugawa, Corban.

Defensive – Concordia University’s Lauryn Helmers, a 5-6 sophomore defender from Puyallup, Wash., has been named the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week. Helmers helped the No. 1-ranked Cavaliers extend their season-long scoreless streak to 11 matches in shutout wins over Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho. The CU defense ranks No. 1 in the NAIA in shutouts and goals-against average. Honorable mention: Ali Foster, Northwest Christian; Chantal Schefers, Eastern Oregon; Jessica Kuehlwein, Southern Oregon; Anna Tozier, Oregon Tech; Alexis Beattie, Corban.

Cross Country

Men – Southern Oregon University’s David Laney, a senior from Portland, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Runner of the Week. Laney was the top collegian and second competitor overall in the men’s Gold race at the Charles Bowles Invitational at Willamette University. Laney, the No. 1 runner on the nation’s No. 2-ranked NAIA team, clocked a time of 24:13 over the 8K course in leading the Raiders to the team title. Honorable mention: DJ Flores, Eastern Oregon; Greg Montgomery, College of Idaho; Matt Porter, Northwest; Cory Pena, Concordia; Caleb Goins, Corban; Karim Shakalia, Warner Pacific.

Women – Eastern Oregon University’s Karlee Coffey, a sophomore from La Grande, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Runner of the Week. Coffey, a three-time Red Lion Runner of the Week this season, finished fourth out of 239 runners in the Gold race at the Charles Bowles Invitational at Willamette University. Coffey covered the 5K course in a time of 17:37, shaving 10 seconds off the 30-year-old EOU record set by Rhonda Burnett in 1980. Honorable mention: Brittany Arch, Northwest Christian; Laurie Stoutenburgh, Southern Oregon; Alice Taylor, Concordia; Christi Schmitz, Corban.
 

Golf

Men – None selected.

Women – Northwest Christian University’s Ashley King, a senior from Blue River, Ore., has been named the Red Lion Golfer of the Week. King captured medalist honors in leading the Beacons to a dual-match victory over Simpson University (Calif.).
