PORTLAND, Ore. – A raucous crowd of 300 watched Concordia hold off a spirited Warner Pacific squad 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 in Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball action tonight at C.C. Perry Gym.
The Cavaliers improve to 13-6 overall and 8-2 in CCC play, and remain one game back of league leaders College of Idaho and Southern Oregon. The Knights fall to 4-12 and 2-8.
The host Knights made it tough on their cross-town rivals, and fought the Cavs to 15 tie scores and 8 lead changes during the contest. The efficiency of Concordia on the attack proved to be the difference as CU hit for 41 kills and a .230 percentage, while Warner Pacific managed 32 kills and a .104 percentage.
WP’s Samantha Kolakowski reached a career milestone in set three, firing over her 100th service ace in her four seasons as a Knight.
Erika Doremus was the top attacker on the night, swinging for a match high 16 kills to lead CU. Clair Theil added 10 kills, and Aubrie Concannon had 14 digs.
Warner Pacific was led by Marissa Towry’s 9 kills, while Rachel Warick added 8. Caitlyn McCall returned from injury to record 13 digs.
