SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - An 18-4 run midway through the second half blew a close game wide open, as Carroll College defeated The College of Idaho, 79-69, in the opening game of the 2010 Westminster Fall Classic.

The Lady Yotes (1-1), who led by as many as 11 points in the first half, held a 55-52 edge with just over ten minutes to play, only to watch consecutive three-point plays from Torrie Cahill and Sara Meyer jumpstart the run for the Saints.

The C of I had a quick start, as true freshman Dayna Drager hit her first four field goal attempts, scoring 12 of her team-high 16 points in the opening stanza, as the Lady Yotes took a 25-14 lead midway through the period. However, Carroll fought back, closing the margin to 39-38 at the break.

Rachel Rasmussen had a career-high 11 points in the loss, while leading scorer, Nicole Gall, was held to just seven points, but added eight assists and three steals. Despite forcing 23 turnovers, a 43-31 deficit on the glass loomed large.

Alysha Green led the Saints (7-1) with 26 points – including five three-point baskets, with Meyer scoring 13 and Cahill 11. Carroll made their living at the foul line – taking twice as many free throws as The C of I, connecting on 26-of-34 attempts on the night.

The C of I returns to action tomorrow night, meeting No. 10 ranked Westminster at 6 p.m.
