CCC Volleyball Tourney Gets Underway Today
ASHLAND, Ore. – An automatic berth in the NAIA Volleyball National Championships is on the line this weekend as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Tournament takes place here on the campus of Southern Oregon University. All three tournament games can be seen live on the Internet at www.pennatlantic.com.
The four-team, single-elimination tournament gets underway at 4 p.m. when second-seeded and 13th-ranked College of Idaho (21-4, 17-1 CCC) takes on third-seeded Concordia (19-8, 14-4). At 7 p.m., top-seeded and 16th-ranked Southern Oregon (20-3, 17-1) meets fourth-seeded Northwest (16-9, 11-7).
Friday’s winners will meet Saturday at 3 p.m., also at SOU’s McNeal Pavilion, for the tournament championship. The CCC tournament champion will earn a berth in the NAIA’s national tournament, which begins Nov. 20 at campus sites.
Host SOU shared the regular season CCC crown with College of Idaho, and earned the right to host the conference tournament because it lost fewer CCC sets than did the Yotes. SOU and C of I split their season series, each team winning 3-0 on its home floor.
