SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Nicole Yazzie scored 14 of her game-high 21 points in the first half, as Westminster College defeated The College of Idaho, 78-56, on Day 2 of the Westminster Fall Classic inside Behnken Fieldhouse.
After the Lady Yotes (1-2) got back-to-back treys from Nicole Gall in the opening two minutes to take a 6-5 lead, Westminster responded with a 16-0 run over the next seven minutes to take control. The C of I missed six-straight shots and committed four turnovers during the spurt.
The Coyotes made a run in the second half, as a Gall lay-up with 14-minutes remaining to cut the margin to 46-39, but could not get closer, as the Griffins (6-1) used a 17-2 run to put the game away.
Michelle Pace had 19 points and eight rebounds in the victory, with Angela Fales logging nine points, six rebounds, and six assists off the bench.
Gall led The C of I with 18 points, but committed ten turnovers. Freshman Dayna Drager continued her solid play, adding 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, but the Coyotes managed just 32-percent shooting from the field on the night.
The Lady Yotes close out tournament play tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Montana Western.
