Orr, Tsugawa Earn Top CCC Soccer Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Brittany Orr of Concordia University has been voted the Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Year, while Corban University’s Emily Tsugawa was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year, the league office announced.
Orr was named the CCC’s Defensive Player of the Year by a vote of the conference coaches. The junior defender from Federal Way, Wash., helped lead the Cavaliers (17-0-2) to their 11th straight Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season championship. She paced a defense that has allowed just three goals in 19 contests this season.
Corban University’s Emily Tsugawa was selected by the conference coaches as Offensive Player of the Year. The sophomore forward from Gladstone, Ore., was tied for top spot in conference scoring with 31 points with Oregon Tech’s Crystal Foster. Tsugawa was also second in goals with 12 behind only Foster who finished the season with 14.
Freshman Audrey Sullivan of Corban University and sophomore Adrienne Lommasson of Concordia were named Newcomers of the Year to the Cascade Conference by the coaches. Sullivan tallied 20 points (8 goals, 4 assists) on the season, while Lommasson, helped a stingy Cavalier defense lead the national in shutout (16).
Grant Landy will share Co-Coach of the Year with his counterpart from Southern Oregon University, Jon Clement. Landy led his Cavs to the nation’s No. 1 spot mid-way through 2010 and will look for his 12th conference championship and 11th straight CCC tournament title. It is his ninth CCC Coach of the Year award. Clement claims his fifth career Coach of the Year award. The Raider head coach led his team to an impressive third-place finish in the conference and ended this season with a 12-5-2 record, best during his five years in Ashland.
