Dipascuale Named Men's Soccer Player of Year
PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia University’s Facundo Dipascuale, who was listed in every conference statistical top-10 during the 2010 season, has been voted the CCC’s men’s soccer Player of the Year, the league office announced. The junior midfielder from Buenos Aires, Argentina shared the CCC lead in game-winning goals with four.
In his seventh year leading The College of Idaho men’s soccer team, Brian Smith was named the league’s Coach of the Year. Smith led the Coyotes to a 9-4-1 conference mark and the No. 2 seed in this year’s CCC tournament. The playoff appearance was the second for the ‘Yotes under Smith, including an appearance in the NAIA Region I tournament in 2006.
Concordia defenseman Shaunovan Wilson picked up a pair of awards as he was voted the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Wilson led a Cavalier backline that paced all with just one goal allowed in 14 conference games and seven allowed through 19 contests in 2010. The Cav’s defense ranks third in the NAIA in shutouts (14) and shutouts per game (0.74).
