Roosevelt High School students were featured participants in Thursday's Champions of Character event held in conjunction with this weekend's NAIA Cross Country National Championships at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
'Character Education' Kicks Off NAIA XC Event
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- More than 150 students from Portland's Roosevelt High School helped kick off activities surrounding the 2010 NAIA Cross Country National Championships here at the Bo Jackson Center at Nike World Headquarters Thursday.
The Roosevelt students participated in a "Champions of Character" event designed to instill an understanding of key character values and provide practical tools for student-athletes, coaches and parents to use in modeling exemplary character traits. The interactive sessions were led by NAIA student-athletes who will be participating in Saturday's national championship at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

The 2010 NAIA Cross Country National Championships are being co-hosted by the Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia University (Ore.). The women's 5K race is Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by men's 8K at 11:45 a.m.
