COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team eased to a 102-49 win at Walla Walla University Wednesday.

The Mountaineers (3-0) were led by a 32-point performance from Nicole Redd. The freshman was 11 for 13 from the field and 6 for 8 from behind the perimeter. She added six rebounds as well.

Eastern shot 61 percent from the field in the game, including 12 of 24 from behind the arc. EOU outrebounded the Wolves, 44-18. The Mountaineers also had 20 assists compared to WWU’s seven. Eastern Oregon outscored Walla Walla, 56-4, in points off of the bench, and 20-8 in points off of turnovers.

Nyesha Joseph added 14 points for EOU. The freshman also finished with 10 rebounds, recording her first collegiate double-double. Shaylee Nielsen and Vintea Georges had 11 and 10 points respectively for the Mountaineers. Samantha Flett had a game-high six assists.

The Wolves were held to 30 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. WWU was led by Nicke Parks’ 16 points. The sophomore was 7 for 19 from the field. She had a team-high six rebounds.

This was the second meeting between the schools this season. Eastern won a 94-34 decision on Oct. 30 in La Grande. The teams will meet again Saturday in the fourth and final game of the Aramark Holiday Classic. EOU has now won all 16 meetings vs. Walla Walla all-time.

The Mountaineers host Montana Western Friday night at 6 in the second game of the Aramark Holiday Classic. Walla Walla University will play The College of Idaho at 2 p.m. to open the classic Friday in Quinn Coliseum.
