LIBERTY, Mo. –
Concordia’s season came to an end in the opening round of the NAIA men’s soccer national championships with a 3-1 loss to seventh-seeded William Jewell Saturday night.
 
Concordia ended its season with a 16-3-1 record, while William Jewell improved to 18-2.
 
William Jewell struck first, as Troy Green scored off a pass from A.J. Shinabargar in the 36th minute to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals outshot the Cavaliers 10-3 in the first half and 18-9 in the match.
 
Mo Ramahi made it a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute on a penalty kick. Concordia’s Shaunovan Wilson pulled CU to within one at 2-1 two minutes later, but that would be the only Cavalier goal of the contest.
 
Cole Prather extended the Cardinal lead to 3-1 in the 84th minute off a pass from Shinabargar and Troy Green.
 
Concordia goalkeeper Claudio Lazar finished with seven saves in the contest, while William Jewell keeper Kyle Heiman posted four saves.
