VANCOUVER, Wash. – Southern Oregon posted the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s highest finish at the 2010 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships with a seventh place showing, as Eastern Oregon’s Karlee Coffey finished second overall with a career-best time of 17:46 Saturday at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.

Coffey, who won the 2010 CCC individual title two weeks ago in Klamath Falls, hung with the pack throughout the entire 5K race remaining in second place through the finish line earning NAIA All-American honors, as she was a mere four seconds behind the individual champion Justyna Mudy of Shorter.

Southern Oregon’s first-ever national championship appearance resulted in a combined team total of 255 points, as the Raiders were led by Summer Cano’s 37th place showing individually thanks to a time of 18:41.

In eighth place overall with a team score of 279 points was national championship host and 2010 CCC champions Concordia led by Alice Taylor’s 19th place finish in a time of 18:22. The Cavaliers’ top runner earned All-American honors, as she finished in the Top 30 individually.

Rounding out the CCC teams was The College of Idaho with a 12th place finish thanks to a combined team total of 324 points. The ‘Yotes were led by Hillary Holt’s 53rd place showing in a time of 18:53.

Competing along with Coffey as an individual, Northwest Christian’s Stephanie Hescock finished 77th overall in a time of 19:10.
