BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Eastern Oregon University women’s basketball team completes its Sunshine State sweep with an 80-42 victory at Webber International Saturday.

The Mountaineers (7-1) won the Warrior Turkey Shootout after two wins over schools from Florida. It was another double-digit three point night for Eastern. The Mountaineers made 10 of their 18 shots from behind the perimeter. EOU shot 45 percent from the field, and held WIU to 22 percent. The Warriors were 2 for 15 shooting from behind the arc.

Samantha Flett scored a game-high 16 points to lead Eastern Oregon. The senior was 7 for 10 from the field, 2 for 2 from three-point range, had nine rebounds, and five assists. Shaylee Nielsen, Vintea Georges, and Kyle Miller each finished with 11 points. Miller had a game-high eight assists and Nicole Redd grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

With the game tied at 5, the Mountaineers went on a 27-7 run over a 10-minute span early in the game. From the 8:46 to 4:49 the lead stretched from 32-12 to 45-13, Eastern’s largest lead of the first half. EOU led at halftime, 47-19. The Mountaineers opened the second half on a 12-0 run, and led by as many as 47 points in the second half.

The Warriors (1-2) were led by Nikki King’s 11 points and 12 rebounds. Shambrika Tomlin added 10 points. Webber International finished with 21 turnovers, while Eastern Oregon committed 20. The Mountaineers had 20 assists, while WIU finished with nine. EOU outrebounded Webber International, 61-42.

Eastern hosts The Evergreen State College (1-4) in the opening game of the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule Friday. It will be ‘70s Night in Quinn Coliseum and fans are encouraged to wear retro attire to the game. The game will have a live video stream and stats on EOUSports.com. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
