KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s basketball team made it two wins in as many tries over the Redhawks, as the No. 16 ranked Hustlin’ Owls ran past their Cal Pac opponent, Simpson University, by a 95-58 score in non-conference action tonight at Danny Miles Court. 

Oregon Tech heads into Cascade Collegiate Conference play this weekend with an 8-2 mark, while Simpson University remains winless at 0-7. The Owls travel to Portland to take on Warner Pacific College and Concordia University this Friday and Saturday.

All 10 players scored for Oregon Tech, led by a game-high 25 by Kyle Gomez. Gomez grabbed seven boards to go with a steal, block and assist in the victory. Joseph Foster added 14 points, three assists and three rebounds, while Bryant Sentman and Brent Johnson rounded out double figure scorers with 13 points and 11 points respectively. Alex Zerbach grabbed a game-high 10 boards to go with eight points and two assists, while Matt Smith handed out a game-high five assists.

Pat Magno led the Simpson scoring attack with 10 points, while handing out four assists. Philip Templeton finished with nine points, with Andrew Baxter and Michael Silliman knocking in eight points each.

After Oregon Tech led 6-5 early, it didn’t take long for the Owls to secure a double-digit lead after a 12-3 run made it 18-8.

Simpson cut the Owl lead to seven points, 20-13, but Oregon Tech pulled away over the next 11 minutes to take a 45-27 advantage into halftime.

At the midway point of the second period Oregon Tech had already doubled their halftime lead, and went up by as many as 42 points, the largest margin of the game, before settling for a 95-58 victory.
