Owls fall in four to Northwest
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech volleyball team took the opening set, but Northwest University rallied to take the next three straight on their way to a four set win over the Owls 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-18.
Oregon Tech falls to 11-18 on the year and 3-15 in conference play. Northwest, who already claimed a spot in postseason play, improved to 16-8 on the year and 11-6 in the conference standings.
Mikayla Morgan finished with a team-high 13 kills to go with six digs, followed by 12 kills and nine digs from Mindy Rencher. Megan Christensen tallied 10 kills and came up with eight digs in the loss. Setter Sarah Svedin added 30 assists, while libero Marie Baumann led the Tech defense with 14 digs and Hannah Brewster 13.
NU’s Lauren Holtz finished with a match-high 15 kills, while Sarah Stoker came away with nine. Setter Lauren Ernster finished with a double-double 34 assists and 12 digs, while libero Heather Schulke finished with a match-high 26 digs in the win for the Eagles.
The Owls ended the match with 51 kills compared to NU’s 40, but 33 hitting errors proved costly. Tech hit at a .112 clip with the Eagles attacking at .187.
Oregon Tech plays their last match of the season Saturday versus The Evergreen State College and will honor seniors Megan Christensen and Mikayla Morgan prior to the match.
