KIRKLAND, Wash. - The NU Eagles caught fire for a 45 point second half in defeating a shorthanded Northwest Christian Univ., 77-49, tonight in a Cascade Conference game.

NU jumped out early to a 10-6 lead in the first half, but NCU would battle back to tie the game on Brent McKee’s tip in at the 14:00 mark which sparked a 10-3 Beacon run as they would lead 20-13 on Quentin Guidry's 3-pointer with 10:09 to go in the half. NU would then go on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 20-all at the 7:12 mark. NCU would regain the lead, 25-22, on another Guidry 3-pointer with 5:47 on the clock, but the Eagles would re-take the lead for good, 26-25 on a Daley Landon jumper with 4:02 left. Northwest U. would take a slim, 32-28, lead into the locker room at halftime over NCU who was playing without the services of staring guard Jordan Myers, and had other injured players sitting out.

The second half would be all Northwest U. as the Eagles would slowly pull away from the feisty Beacons. NU would out score NCU 16-3 in the opening minutes of the half and lead, 50-31, capped off by a Greg Peters layup at the 15:04 mark. Another 10-6 run by the Eagles would increase their lead to 60-37 with 7:31 left in the contest. Northwest U. would out score NCU 17-10 the rest of the way to earn their eighth victory of the season.

Northwest U. (8-2, 2-1 CCC) was led by senior Greg Peters who came off the bench to score 12 points and 8 rebounds in just 17 minutes of play. Stedman Richardson and Jordan Call each scored 10 points for the Eagles who shot 47% for the game. After being out rebounded in the first half 19-16, the Eagles gained control of the boards in the second half and held the rebounding edge for the night at 41-28.

Northwest Christian's (5-6, 1-1 CCC) Quentin Guidry and Brent McKee teamed up for 10 points a piece to lead the Beacons in scoring. NCU's leading scorer Kellen Spicer was held to 7 points on the night. The Beacons shot 36% on the night, 41% in the first half and 29% in the second.

Northwest U. remains at home tomorrow night to host Corban University and Northwest Christian travels to Olympia to play the Evergreen State College. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. start times.
