LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University volleyball team signed Stefani Sorensen to participate in the 2011 season.

Sorensen, a native of Camas, Wash., was recently named the All-Region Volleyball Player of the Year by The Columbian. She will graduate from Camas High School. Sorensen guided CHS to a 22-1 overall record, a league title, district title, and bi-district title. Camas High finished with a fifth-place trophy at Class 3A state tournament.

“It’s an honor to get a player of Stefani’s caliber,” EOU volleyball head coach Hailey Pearce said. “She will make an instant impact on our team. Her smarts on the court make her such a threat. Stefani is such a talented player as well; her athleticism will help us in the tough Cascade Conference.”

Sorensen was voted co-Player of the Year in the 3A Greater St. Helens League. Camas was ranked as high as No. 2 in Class 3A this year, and had the best season in the school’s history. CHS finished seventh in the state in Sorensen’s junior year in 2009.

“I chose Eastern because of its nursing program,” Sorensen said. “I wanted to find a smaller school and EOU fit that for me.”
